Hi Everyone, greetings from Poland.
Apologies for writing in English, but my German-language abilities are next to nothing.

Some days ago I became an owner of K8911 terminal (with K7634 keyboard “connected” to 012-6710 ATS board) with keyboard cable being cut off. Because I don’t have any documentation, I soldered new cable to existing plugs using one-to-one scheme, which mean that I connected pin 1-A from first plug to pin 1-A on second plug, pin 2-B from first to pin 2-B on second and so on.

Unfortunately, this connection seems to be not working at all – after turning on the unit, terminal does not responding, two red LEDs on the left side of the keyboard are shining still, LED on the right side is flashing and buzzer is emitting quiet noise.

In my opinion, there are two possible causes of this situation: one – that connections between plugs should be crossed in some way, and another – that keyboard or unit itself is simply broken.

Can you help me bringing my K8911 to life, please?

Hello!

I think you have a K7634 (this one).

If it helps you, you can get the service plans for the K7634 and K7636 parallel keyboards and the service plan of the Central Processing Units (ZRE) K2526 and K2527. These ZRE's should have the same keyboard connector. These plans are - unfortunately - in German only. But I can also make a connection plan of the two connectors (on the keyboard and the ZRE) for you, if you want (in the afternoon).

Greetings, Xaar.

Correction: I looked it up in the User's Manuals of both (ZRE and keyboard): If you have a K7634 with the EFS26 connector internal (this one), these connectors are connected in the one-to-one-scheme. So your cable should be correct.

Does the display do anything when you turn your K8911 on? Can you start the configuration menu (press CTRL and RESET at the same time)?

Hi Bergen,

first you will have to fix the keyboard. The system will not start with no keyboard attached. 1-1 cabling is correct as Xaar already said.

I guess you already checked the power supplies? Does the screen turn green / on if you unplug the signal cable?

What do the LEDs at the device signal?

Hi again

Xaar - you're right, I have K7634 keyboard. To better illustrate the issue, I decided to make a movie:

As you can see, keyboard had hard life before, some of button caps are missing, but circuit board stayed untouched.

I think it is not a big problem to get some of them.

I'm sure that in Germany it's not a big problem, but in Poland such keyboards are quite rare

Maybe there are some helpful friends in Germany.

I've a defective keyboard. You may have the key-caps ;-)

Actually. When powering the System the LEDs turn on and off again. Did I get this right from the video?

On my K8915 the LEDs HALT and ERROR turn on when the keyboard is not connected. (Nothing else happens.)

Again: Remove the keyboard and switch the unit on. Check the LEDs at the front.

Also remove the Screen Signal Cable to test the Screen.
